SE Color Picker requests three narrow permissions: 'storage' to save your palettes and preferences on your device, 'downloads' so you can export palettes as files when you ask, and 'activeTab' so the eyedropper can read the page you're currently on — only when you invoke it.

Why can't I pick colors on some pages?

Chrome blocks extensions on internal pages like chrome://, the Chrome Web Store, and PDF viewers. The eyedropper also depends on the browser's EyeDropper API, which requires a user gesture. Try clicking the extension icon first, then use the picker.

Where are my palettes stored? Is anything sent to a server?

Nothing. All colors, palettes, favorites, and settings live in your local Chrome storage. SE Color Picker has no backend, no analytics, and no telemetry.

Which export formats are supported?

HEX, RGB, HSL, OKLCH, CSS custom properties (--color-name), and a ready-to-paste Tailwind theme block. You can set a default format in Settings for auto-copy.
